Does anyone have a pattern for a dachshund friendly harness that they would be willing to share? I have plenty of fabric, d-rings, etc to make some, but I am having trouble finding a pattern. McCall's used to have one but it's now out of print :(

I would love it if someone willing to share could e-mail it to me so that I could print it/cut it out. Thanks in advance!

I think BeauBuddy has one. Not sure if she is willing to share though.. :D ...

Also there may be several links to them here. Will have to research it a little and come back to this post~!

Do you maybe know the pattern # for the McCalls? I have a bunch stockpiled in my art room spanning several decades of family seamstress'... all numerical haha! If you know the number I could go check? It might be rough wading through several hundred patterns however without a number heh.

The pattern # is M5514. It is a Hilary Duff pattern with different pet accessories including a harness. Thanks

No such luck. I was almost certain I'd seen something similar to it that my grandmother had passed down but no go. Have you considered buying it online? I googled and found a few places selling it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360202283732&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=WXF%3F&GUID=449b4dc41270a0aad54529d5feade1da&itemid=360202283732&ff4=263602_263622

I'd buy it myself, scan it and share it with everyone if PayPal hadn't of put me on their black list. I complained to much when my entire bank account was emptied by someone overseas and they put me through ring after ring. It was an ordeal and I don't trust them or their customer service; so I wholly understand if you wouldn't want to buy it! If you do get your hands on it somehow let us know, I'd gladly pay for a good scan of the pattern. Best of luck!

There are plenty of harnesses stretched out for all to see here:

http://www.thelongandshortofit.com/harnavest.htm

If you already have fabric, I would take the cheapest stuff and imitate what you see on that website and place it on your dog, adjust from there.
Do NOT use the D rings from the fabric store. They will open up and you'll be standing there with just a leash in your hands and your dog will be gone.

I can't seem to find the pricing on this website but I know Adele from her coming to our meet ups. If you buy a vest from her (her D rings are excellent) you will already have a custom fit for your dog and you can use the harness as a pattern for future harnesses. It's Canadian funds so you get a break on the dollar too. You can look at it as the last harness you'll have to buy, and it is ready to go until you put one together yourself.

Good luck. Hope to see photos of your finished product, modeled by a handsome little fella.

Thanks for the link BeauBuddy! :happythumbsup

I'll definitely be headed back to that site when the pup is full grown and ready to flaunt some style. (:
